Help YSE Make STEM a Field For All!

Youth for STEM Equity is directed to be a student-led, non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio that works towards proliferating academic opportunities available to individuals, allowing for increased engagement within the STEM field, by reducing racism and discrimination through arduous activism, essential education, and influential initiatives. We want to foster diversity within the STEM community regardless of personal identity to enhance the growth of the international knowledge economy. Moreover, we want to shift the traditional perspectives on STEM that regard it as just a quantitative field of analysis. We want to show that STEM is more than just molecules and numbers, it is history, literature, and art; it is you and me.

As individuals, we are extremely passionate about exploring careers within the field of STEM. Coming from well-privileged environments, we have had all the resources and opportunities available to us for maximizing career involvement. Now we take responsibility as accomplices to actively increase STEM diversification.

It greatly saddens us to see that individuals cannot be passionate about their STEM interests due to their socioeconomic backgrounds, gender, race, and other forms of identity. Diversity and authenticity are what is critical for innovation and creativity within STEM. Furthermore, everyone should enjoy the opportunity in reaching their true potential within a sector, which is only possible in an equitable environment.

Through our core principles of Equity, Engagement, and Educate, we hope to foster a much-needed change in society for the progression of the international knowledge economy. We believe one of the main ways to radically incite social awareness and amelioration is to take initiative.

Youth for STEM Equity possess an authentic sense of spirit and uniquely respond to the crises of the contemporary world. We understand the importance of intelligence, collaboration, leadership, and integrity within diversity and inclusivity. We have learned to place our feet in the shoes of minorities through anecdotal experiences, allowing us to understand and assist people in need on a profound and perplexing level. Our unparalleled ideas and innovations facilitate not only the expansion of the STEM field but also help provide individuals with the rights they have been robbed of under the law. We distinguish ourselves through the diversity and youth perspective that can aid us in arduously striving for our objectives.
