Your Support Needed for Josh Evans’ Heart Failure Journey

I’m so sad to share that my healthy 38 -year -old baby brother is in critical care for heart failure; details are below, and any help for him, his wife, and young children would mean the world to us.

Josh is beloved by so many for all the things that define him: his kindness, quick wit, talent, musical ability, and his knack for talking your ear off on a wide range of topics – including, and especially, the happy life he has built with his wife Brooke and their two adorable kids Emmie (5) and Theo (2).

The journey started in June when Josh was admitted into the hospital for viral myocarditis. He was a *healthy* 38 year old man weeks before! He had just had a physical and received a clean bill of health. Then, for reasons the teams of doctors do not fully understand, Josh started to decline and the treatments were not working. He was readmitted to the hospital on September 6th 2024. He now has a temporary heart pump, has had multiple surgeries and complications, and is still hospitalized. The current goal is to stabilize enough for implantation of a Left Ventrical Assisted Device, then to be placed on the list for a heart transplant; he is not currently healthy enough to be on the list.

We are all so shocked and saddened by the dramatic turn in the happy life of this family. We don’t know what the next weeks, months, and years hold. But one thing is certain: Josh and Brooke will need a heck of a lot of support - emotional, logistical, financial. This is a long, long road, and we don’t know the half of it. And all of this while trying to keep a relatively normal life for Emmie and Theo.
