I never thought I would have to write here, but I have no other choice..
My name is Zain, I am 17 years old, and today I am writing not for myself, but for my mother and to support my family.
We are a small family: my mother, my younger brother (14 years old), my sick grandmother, and me. My mother carries everything on her shoulders. She is both mother and father, providing our food and water, taking care of my grandmother who suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart weakness, and trying to cover my brother’s and my school expenses. She hides her tears so we don’t see her pain — sometimes she even leaves the table pretending she is full, just so that we can eat enough.
Since October 7, life has become unbearable:
at one point a bag of flour reached an outrageous 1500
We walk long distances to fetch water, only to find it polluted.
Food is scarce and extremely expensive.
The tent we live in does not protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.
My little brother, only 14, has been forced to carry burdens far beyond his age. He fetches water and carries heavy supplies. The struggle has taken a toll on him — his weight dropped from 57 kg to 43 kg due to hunger and exhaustion. And me, instead of focusing on my final year of school, I spend my days thinking how I can ease my mother’s pain.
My mother has faced every hardship alone, with no one to support her. I am writing here because I want to stand by her and give her strength.
Any funds raised will go towards:
Medical treatment and medicine for my grandmother.
Flour and basic food for our family.
School expenses for my brother and me.
Most importantly, to ease the heavy burden on my mother’s shoulders.
Maybe you cannot change the war, but your support — even a donation, a share, or a prayer — can remind my mother that she is not alone.
From my heart, thank you to everyone who stands with us.
