Loch Ness Marathon 2024, in memory of Mary & David Easteal
On September 29th I will be running the Loch Ness Marathon in memory of my beloved Nan Mary, who passed away last year.
One of the many legacies Nan left was The David Easteal Trust. A charity set up by my Nan and Grandad in memory of their son who died tragically at the age of 19. An Uncle I never knew but heard so much about when I was growing up.
At the start of his career, David worked with young people preparing to leave care. He observed how they were suddenly expected to be on their own in the world, find a job and accommodation, and adjust to living independently with no family support.
The Trust is a small family-run charity where a social worker can apply for a grant on behalf of a young person to provide furnishings for accommodation, tools or clothing for a new trade/apprenticeship, or any other particular need that helps them to move forward in their lives. It is a charity extremely close to all of our hearts and one of which I am now a proud trustee.
I appreciate times are tough for many right now but if you do wish to donate then we would all be immensely grateful.
I was fortunate enough to tell Nan of these plans in the days before she passed, so I’m sure she’ll be keeping the date in her diary.
