Love & Support for the Bright Family
The loving family in this photo has been torn apart by cancer.
For the past two and a half years our friend Lauren has been fighting an aggressive form of melanoma. She had to juggle oncology appointments in Melbourne (a 2hr drive), hospital visits, medical check-ups and work while raising her two young children. She did it all with determination, grace, humour and a smile.
In June this year, while celebrating her 39th birthday, Lauren felt a sharp pain in her head followed by a loss of vision. She underwent an emergency MRI and was given the heartbreaking news that the melanoma had spread to her brain.
Despite several rounds of radiation, chemo and immunotherapy, the family was told that there were no more options. Heartbreakingly, on Friday 3rd September, Lauren passed away peacefully in her sleep with husband Jamie by her side.
This devastating turn of events means that Lauren leaves behind her husband Jamie and their two young children Bailey and Jade, aged just 7 and 2.
Friends and family have been asking what they can do to help, and right now there is no easy answer. Jamie’s immediate focus is on taking care of their two children and trying to continue giving them the life that Lauren fought so hard to give them.
With that in mind, when Jamie is ready we would love to send him and his children on a holiday. It would give them some space to breathe and to rest, and help them regain the strength to return to their life at home without Lauren. Travel was always a really important part of their lives, both before and after having children and we know Lauren would love for Jamie to continue this tradition.
Our goal is to help alleviate the financial burden of this trip, so that Jamie can try to relax and focus on the kids without having to think about the cost. We would greatly appreciate any donation, no matter how small, in order to support this beautiful family and give the kids something to look forward to.
