International camp for young people aged 14 - 17 years, from 07 July 2024 to 14 July 2024 in Hemmingen

In cooperation with the Hemmingen Partnership Committee (PAKO) and the corresponding committees of Hemmingen's twin towns, the Hemmingen Jugendpflege team is organising an international camp for young people aged 14 to 17.
A maximum of 7 young people from each of Hemmingen's twin towns Clydesdale, Yvetot and Murowana Goslina are invited, accompanied by 1 or 2 coaches.

Accommodation is provided on the facilities of the Hemmingen Youth Centre.

Only the costs for the travel to and from Hemmingen have to be covered by the participants or the respective organisations of the twin towns. All other costs, such as accommodation, meals and excursions, will be covered by the youth centre and the town of Hemmingen.

The aim of the "International Camp" project is to work together on a social and charitable project. Young people from different countries get to know each other and experience similarities and differences at work and in their free time, learning tolerance and open-mindedness towards others.

During the project week, the young people will be tasked with maintaining and extending individual buildings on the Hemmingen „Bau- und Abenteuerspielplatz“, a Construction and Adventure Playground under the expert guidance of a professional craftsman.

The construction and adventure playground is located on a large plot of land directly on the Hemmingen Strandbadsee, close to the „Jugendkulturhaus“, the Hemmingen Youth Centre. Here, children and young people have the opportunity to build wooden huts, make campfires, but also to swim or sail on a raft on the lake. So far, the construction playground has several self-built wooden huts, which are constantly being extended and rebuilt, a professionally built hut for groups of up to 20 people, a covered clay oven, a fire pit, a floating dock and many other attractions. (see the attached photos)
In addition to working together in the mornings, many activities and excursions are planned:

- Presentation of the project and a discovery of the project site
- A tour around the Hemmingen neighbourhoods
- Themed evening with presentation of the groups and their countries/cities
- Excursion to Hanover, "Red Thread" tour, free time in the city
- Reception at Hemmingen town hall, etc.
- Cooking together
