Hi, my name is Joana and I’m raising a fundraiser for my little sister Yoleth and my family. My sister is five years old, a very bright and happy little girl, always has a smile on her face and always puts a smile on other people’s faces, but recently things took a turn. On Friday, May 19th, she had a terrible accident that could cause her leg to get amputated… Yoleth went under a lawn mower… While my dad was working outside cutting the grass, unfortunately, Yoleth went running behind him wanting to ask him a question, unable to hear Yoleth due to the loudness of the lawnmower and being distracted working, he reversed and accidentally went over her right leg… She unfortunately broke every bone that you could think of, and is missing her knee bones completely. Her tendons and muscles were cut in half, and she sadly lost her big toe. She was flown on a helicopter to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and has been taken care of since. She’s been having surgery every two days and will continue having surgery for as long as we’re going to remember, to try and save her leg. This is very hard on my family and I and completely traumatizing, especially for my dad. Although it was an accident and meant no harm to Yoleth, he still feels horrible about the situation. He is currently in no state to be driving or working, with all the guilt and remorse he’s feeling. Neither my mom and dad want want to leave Yoleth’s side, and if they do it’s only when she goes into surgery. I have a daughter myself, i can’t even imagine how they feel. Seeing my dad and Yoleth the way I did has really left a deep mark on me. Its the first time my family endured this type of pain … Due to my dads mental state there will be no type of income coming in, this is why we are asking for any type of help. We aren’t the type of people to do stuff like this, but we were never expecting to experience anything like this. I have a newborn daughter and am now having to take care of my younger sisters as well so working for me is not an option at the moment. It will take a long time for Yoleth to recover physically, and a long time for us to recover mentally. Anything helps, even a prayer. Thank you for your time.

Hola, mi nombre es Joana y estoy recaudando fondos para mi hermanita Yoleth y mi familia. Mi hermana tiene cinco años, es una niña muy brillante y feliz, siempre tiene una sonrisa en la cara y siempre pone una sonrisa en la cara de los demás, pero recientemente las cosas dieron un giro, el viernes 19 de mayo tuvo un terrible accidente que podría causar la amputación de su pierna… Yoleth pasó por debajo de una cortadora de césped... Esto es muy duro para mi familia y para mí y es completamente traumático, especialmente para mi papá. Aunque fue un accidente y no significó ningún daño para Yoleth, todavía se siente horrible por la situación. En estos momentos no está en condiciones de conducir o trabajar, con toda la culpa y el remordimiento que siente. Ni mi mamá ni mi papá quieren dejar el lado de Yoleth, y si lo hacen es solo cuando entra a cirugía. Yo también tengo una hija, ni siquiera puedo imaginar cómo se sienten. Ver a mi papá y a Yoleth de la forma en que lo hice realmente me ha dejado una profunda huella. Es la primera vez que mi familia soporta este tipo de dolor… Debido al estado mental de mi papá, no habrá ningún tipo de ingreso, es por eso que estamos pidiendo cualquier tipo de ayuda. No somos el tipo de personas que hacen cosas como esta, pero nunca esperábamos experimentar algo así. Tengo una hija recién nacida y también tengo que cuidar a mis hermanas menores, trabajar para mí no es una opción en este momento.
