A Kidney Transplant Journey

Dear Family, Friends, Community, and Kindhearted Supporters,

Over the past several years, life has taken me on a journey I never expected. What began as a battle with a rare illness ultimately led to kidney failure and the need for ongoing dialysis treatments. While this path has brought many challenges, it has also deepened my appreciation for life, strengthened my dharmic practice, and revealed the incredible power of community, generosity and compassion.

Today, I am reaching out with fait and gratitude in my heart.

I have been presented with an opportunity to receive a kidney transplant through a highly respected nephrologist and transplant team in Mexico. This procedure offers the possibility of restoring my health, freedom, and quality of life in ways that dialysis simply cannot. It represents a chance to reclaim precious time and energy, continue serving my family, my sons, grandson, community, and return to living more fully.

The estimated out-of-pocket cost for the transplant procedure is approximately $50,000. In addition, my medical team has advised that I remain in the San Diego area for approximately three months following surgery. This extended recovery period is essential to ensure proper healing, attend follow-up appointments, undergo monitoring, and receive ongoing post-transplant care.

As a result, I am seeking support not only for the transplant itself, but also for the many associated expenses, including:

• Kidney transplant surgery and medical fees

• Post-operative care and follow-up appointments

• Temporary housing and accommodations near San Diego

• Travel and transportation expenses

• Prescription medications and immunosuppressant drugs

• Food and daily living expenses during recovery

• Unexpected medical and recovery-related costs

Many of you know me as someone who strives to meet life’s challenges with gratitude, resilience, and a commitment to helping others. Whether through music, spiritual practice, education, community service, or wellness advocacy, my goal has always been to uplift and encourage those around me. Now, I find myself in the humbling position of needing support (once again) from the very community that has given me so much strength throughout the years.
