I am a grandmother raising four grandchildren, ages 14 to 19, as a result of the death of my only son in 2021. Until he passed, he raised his children as a single dad. Upon his passing, I adopted his children and am struggling to give them a good quality of life. I had thought I would have retired by now, but I must continue to work to support the five of us. The needs of teenagers are great under the best of circumstances, but when they need braces, clothing, and food it is quite a burden. Recently my oldest grandson got into legal trouble, so now I must also pay the legal fees to give him a chance. I am doing my best to support them, but I need help.

I am a proud person and I find it hard to ask for help. I am a widow of 36 years and have supported myself all of my life. But now, as a senior, I find myself sinking and cannot see how I will help my grandchildren on my own.
