Hi, I’m Fiona Coorey! Over the last year, we have witnessed hideous atrocities and a lack of humanity in the Middle East and now it has come to my beloved motherland and there is no sign of it stopping. There are more than 1.2 million displaced people in Lebanon and this number is growing day by day. Lebanon is not equipped to provide for this insane number of displaced who are living in shelters and on the streets. It really feels like the apocalypse is here and like many others, I am heartbroken and feel helpless in stopping this senseless destruction and death.

As most of you know, Lebanon is my second home and holds a dear place in my heart and my wish is to raise more than $20,000 to donate directly to the displaced people and the most marginalised (and there are many) who have fallen through the cracks and don’t receive international and local aid.

I am raising funds to pay for the provision of hot meals which my friends and neighbours, Livia and Hussein from Riwaq Beirut, their staff and volunteers will be preparing and distributing to displaced people in shelters, schools, and on the streets. The funds raised will also go towards the provision of medication, medical supplies and treatment, menstrual products, baby formula, and other essential items for displaced people. 100% of your donations will go directly to the people in need and bypass NGOs and larger organisations who have huge administrative expenses.

Riwaq Beirut is also collaborating with other local independent initiatives such as Nation Station, Hostel Beirut, The Bake Atelier, The Great Oven, and others.

Every contribution counts, no matter how small and this donation will be made on behalf of everyone who contributes.
