Hi Everyone, I’m Sam. While I was on holiday this year relaxing at a lovely all inclusive I decided it was a fantastic idea to run the London Marathon for an amazing charity, The NSPCC. You may think the sunshine and endless drinks at the bar had an influence on this, you’re probably right.
There’s no real way to explain how hard this is going to be physically and mentally but with the support of everyone around me I’m sure I’ll cross the finish line believing it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. All the while knowing that the temporary pain i’ll endure is nothing compared to what these children feel.
The NSPCC work tirelessly to ensure that children who are suffering from many forms of abuse receive the help and support that they need for a better quality of life.
A big factor behind me wanting to raise money and help fund this support is down to my partner. As brave as she may be I’ve seen her have her bad days, at a young age she was a victim of child sexual abuse without any awareness that help is available and there are resources to support such incidents. She’s always received support from friends and family while dealing with some struggles, however she only felt she could speak out at the age of 30. For other children, the awareness could help ease the pain of years of feeling alone.
It’s taken a lot of courage for her to be ready to tell her story and seek help. This is my way of finding a way to support her and others in need.
I would be eternally grateful for any funds donated whether they be big or small. I can assure you it will make all the difference to a child now and throughout their life.
Thank you so much for reading,
Sam
