Help Us Avoid Eviction After Job Loss

Back in February of this year, I made the significant effort to downsize my house upkeep and management by selling my home of ten years. After selling our home and re-adjusting back into a smaller space for both myself, and my younger brother, my brother and I both maintained our budgets well enough to keep a roof over our heads and manage emergency funds in the event of a crisis.

Things were going smoothly until the end of April, where my younger brother -- who accounts for roughly 60% of our home income - had been laid off from his job of three years. This incident put us back into a significant setback that, fortunately, we had planned for with establishing an emergency relief fund.

Initially, we figured that dipping into it and using the following month of May to try and re-establish our income would be a surefire way to be back on track with living. Unfortunately, the state of finding and being selected for work ended up extending further into June and July. Our income pool being halved made it a struggle to keep up with the rent fees, other utilities, as well as maintaining consistent transit and medical bills that the both of us needed to take care of.

So I sought out financial assistance through the many options within my community to prevent this from happening. Through different interviews and income verifications, I spoke with a lot of relief groups in hopes of getting some sort of stability to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately to no avail, as the income I make (I get paid monthly at the University I work at) wasn't enough to justify the assistance I sought out.

Fast-forward to now, in August, and I am at the point now where I cannot get another extension of our rent and will soon be facing an eviction notice to leave my apartment.

I'm reaching out to anyone who can help me keep a place over my head while my brother and I bring our income back to a stable setting. We are back in a position where we are both actively working - though nowhere near at the amount we could claim to make prior to his termination.

The amount I am requesting covers two months' worth of rent, as well as legal fees and late fees attached to the amount.
