Hello, my name is Daisy, and I am reaching out on behalf of my family. My immediate family consists of my mother, father, younger brother, me, and my 5 month old daughter. On Tuesday, February 3rd, my father, Jorge Alvarado, was taken and detained by ICE. He was in the passenger seat of a car, being driven to a potential work site when the driver got surrounded by ICE unmarked vehicles. The ICE agents asked for identification from both the driver and passenger with no probable cause and completely racial profiling my dad since he didn’t know English and arrested him within seconds. The whole incident was less than 5 minutes. We had no communication with my dad for over 24 hours, not knowing his whereabouts and that they had transported him to a detention center in Texas.

My dad has been in the US for over 30 plus years as a contributing member of the community. He is a devoted father, a grandfather to my 5-month-old daughter, and a pillar of our family. He has no criminal history, paid taxes, and has always been the first to lend a hand to a friend in need. This has completely heartbroken my family. We are unsure of what the future holds right now but are hoping to at least get through June so my younger brother can graduate high school.

 

Until then, my family will have no source of income that we know of. My mom was set to start a job a couple weeks ago, that has now fallen through. With the current state the community is in, we are too scared for her to be out looking for work. Their lease is ending, and they will be moving into my place for the time being. This will allow some of the financial burden to be lifted. My primary goal is to keep our family stable until my younger brother graduates high school this June.

 

We are raising funds to help cover:

- Legal fees and immigration attorney costs

- Potential travel costs if a trip to Texas is needed for legal proceedings.

- Living and emergency expenses for my mom and brother, until he graduates high school this June.

No estamos seguros de lo que nos depara el futuro en este momento, pero esperamos al menos superar junio para que mi hermano menor pueda graduarse de la escuela preparatoria.

Hasta entonces, mi familia no tendrá ninguna fuente de ingresos que sepamos. Mi madre estaba lista para empezar un trabajo hace un par de semanas, que ahora ha fracasado. Con el estado actual en el que se encuentra la comunidad, estamos demasiado asustados para que ella esté buscando trabajo. Su contrato de arrendamiento está terminando, y se mudarán a mi casa por el momento. Esto permitirá que se levante parte de la carga financiera. Mi objetivo principal es mantener a nuestra familia estable hasta que mi hermano menor se gradúe de la escuela este junio.

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a cubrir:

- Honorarios legales y gastos de abogado de inmigración

- Posibles gastos de viaje si se necesita un viaje a Texas para procedimientos legales.

- Gastos de vivienda y emergencia para mi madre y mi hermano, hasta que se gradúe de la escuela este junio.
