Help Bring My Dad Home

On January 9, 2026, at 12:43 PM, my life changed in an instant. I received a call from my cousin saying, “Answer the phone, it’s about your dad.”

My father was detained by ICE at 32nd E St & Main in Los Angeles. He was simply stepping out to get lunch. He wasn’t doing anything wrong—he just wanted to eat.

My dad is a hard-working man with no criminal record. He has lived in the United States for over 25 years, pays his taxes, and has always been there for our family. I am 24 years old, turning 25 on January 17, and this will be the first time I won’t hear him tell me, “Feliz cumpleaños, mija. Te quiero mucho.”

Our family is devastated. We are now facing the difficult and expensive process of hiring an immigration lawyer and covering legal and bond fees. We are putting our faith in God, but the financial burden is overwhelming.

Mi padre fue detenido por ICE en 32nd E St y Main, en Los Ángeles. Simplemente había salido a comprar algo de comer. No estaba haciendo nada malo—solo quería almorzar.

Mi papá es un hombre trabajador, sin antecedentes criminales. Ha vivido en Estados Unidos por más de 25 años, paga sus impuestos y siempre ha estado ahí para nuestra familia. Tengo 24 años y cumplo 25 el 17 de enero, y esta será la primera vez que no escucharé que me diga: “Feliz cumpleaños, mija. Te quiero mucho.” Ahora enfrentamos el proceso difícil y costoso de contratar a un abogado de inmigración y cubrir los gastos legales y de fianza. Estamos poniendo nuestra fe en Dios, pero la carga económica ha sido abrumadora.
