YEMEN: Ramadan Annual Donations

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

I hope this Ramadan finds you well and immersed in its blessings. My name is Ashwak Alabdi, a Yemeni residing in the UK. As we embark on this holy month, it's time once again for our annual Ramadan charity fundraiser.

For the past six years, I've been mobilising efforts to gather funds for Yemen, a nation engulfed in one of the world's largest humanitarian crises. Through the trusty hands of my uncle Ibrahim in Yemen, whom I will be taking responsibility of ensuring the donations on this platform will reach Yemen. Your donations have been reaching those in dire need, providing essentials such as water, food, and medical aid; Ibrahim will take responsibility of of disturbing the funds to those in need within the community to provide food, shelter and anything that they may need and liaising with the local mosque to see who has come forward with any issue they may have such as medical bills. 

Initially, this effort was confined to close friends and family, and each year, we surpassed our goals. The past three years, I expanded our reach to a larger platform, and thanks to your generosity, we raised over £2000 each year since. Your contributions, whether large or small, have made a tangible difference, and I'm deeply grateful for your kindness. I wish I could thank each and one of you individually. 

This year, my aim is to raise or exceed last year's total, ensuring that more families receive the assistance they desperately require. I pledge to cover any platform fees to guarantee that every penny of your donation goes directly to charity. Additionally, a portion of the funds raised will be allocated to support those in need throughout the year, extending beyond Ramadan and Eid.

It's essential to recognise the gravity of the situation in Yemen, where conflict, bombings, and malnutrition continue to ravage communities. Your donations are crucial in alleviating the suffering of those affected by this crisis.

While I wish I could help all our brothers and sisters in need through out the ummah, especially those in Palestine who are suffering even more than we can begin to imagine, ensuring our aid reaches them reliably can be challenging. Yemen holds a special place in my heart, so I've decided to focus on there, where I can be more certain about the impact of our donations. I hope one day we can extend our help to all in need within the Ummah. Until then, let's continue doing what we can to alleviate suffering wherever possible

As we embark on this charitable journey, let us remember the words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Charity does not decrease wealth" (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2588). May your generosity be rewarded abundantly, and may it secure for you palaces in paradise. Ameen.
