Yearly running costs for Sheffield Hospital Radio

Did you know it costs around £4,000 a year to keep Sheffield Hospital Radio on the air?

That’s right, every single year, we need to raise this amount just to keep the station running smoothly and bring music, memories, and good company to patients and staff across Sheffield’s hospitals.

We’re currently fundraising to help cover our essential running costs, which include things like:

  • Internet and streaming services (so we can be heard anywhere on and off site!)
  • Music licensing (PRS & PPL – so we can play all your favourite tunes legally)
  • Studio music playout software
  • Public liability, building, and contents insurance
  • Equipment repairs and replacements
  • Subscriptions (to the Hospital Broadcasting Association and Radio News Hub)
  • Website hosting and telephone services

Every single penny we raise goes directly into running the station. No wages, no admin costs, we’re entirely volunteer-run. Our team gives their time freely because they love what they do and believe in the power of radio to make a difference in people's lives.
