Dear Reader,
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Nancy Delrio. I'm 19 years old, from Live Oak, and I'm working hard to become a caregiver and social worker. I'm also the eldest of two younger siblings. I'm sharing my story because my family is facing a crisis: My dad is currently in jail following an incident two years ago. He's been sentenced to either 45 or 21 days—the uncertainty is agonizing.
Since that incident, my dad has transformed himself into a better person. He turned himself in on the 3rd, and when I visited him today (Oct 5), I was heartbroken. My dad, usually so full of life, singing, dancing, and making us laugh, was weak and barely able to speak. He seemed to be slurring his words and struggling to keep his eyes open. It hurts to admit but my dad is getting old his vision is worsening and it hurts my heart seeing him in there. As our visit ended, he told me that ICE had been at the premises, unaware that he has an immigration lawyer and upcoming court dates. He seemed worried and scared. I reached out to his lawyer and thankfully, his lawyer from Butte County is working with his immigration lawyer, which is a relief. He could lose his apartment, even though he's a hardworking man who has always provided for us.
I'm reaching out for your help so we can pay off legal fees and bills to ensure my dad comes back home and doesn't lose his apartment. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us and help keep our family together during this incredibly challenging time. My phone number is (530) [phone redacted] if you’d like to reach out or know of anything I can do for him.

Yesterday, we were informed how a family member who’s also an inmate saw him exiting the nurses office. We were also notified he has not been getting treated well. They laugh and taunt at my dad. They take advantage because he is small and doesn’t speak english.
Though, we have to remember God is always watching and they will soon regret for their bad doings. We hope my dad remains strong and calls us soon.

With a lot of help from the community and friends someone was able to help my dad get on the phone. he was able to receive help and we also finally got to talk to him!
update 10/20:
My dad is currently in ICE custody, with his release date still set for the 23rd. His lawyer explained that due to the charges and conviction, he'll be transferred to a detention center to finalize the case. Unfortunately, his lawyer can no longer represent him because the detention centers are too far away, and he’s been working pro bono since the case was brought back to court. He’s offered to help us find a local attorney once we know where they're sending him.
We’ve consulted with other lawyers who say there’s a small chance we can get him released before ICE transfers him. To do this, we need to raise a significant amount of money for both his current lawyer and attorney. His main lawyer of 5+ years is our last and best hope.
They plan to send him to a detention center, and we don’t know where yet, but these centers are notoriously far away and known for their inhumane conditions. People are starved, mistreated, and treated like animals.
Please continue to share our GoFundMe, and if you can, please donate. We urgently need your help.
