Welcome corps group: Wegen PSG

Hello, my name is Aregawi Amha. I have formed a group of five individuals to sponsor a refugee through the "Welcome Corps" program launched by the US Department of State in 2023. Our group formed a team called "Wegen PSG" to help fundraise for the refugee, TAFERE ALEMIE, through the Welcome Corps Phase 2 program to strengthen communities. Members of the sponsorship group include AREGAWI AMHA, TSEGAYE GEBRU, MESSELE ASEFA, SELOME BISRAT, and YOHANNES MEKONEN.

We need to raise $5,000. The funds will provide housing, employment opportunities, and other necessary expenses for the newcomer adjusting to life in the United States.

Based on "Welcome Corps" guidance, we must raise $2,425 per family member to sponsor a family. Our goal is to support one individual, and we have set the goal to raise $5,000 to ensure that the individual has adequate support to become settled and self-sufficient. This will help to ensure that we are adequately prepared to support the individual in finding his first home (security deposit, rent for the first few months), furnishing the apartment, and supporting him with his basic needs (food, clothing, etc.) as he settles into his new community.
