Midwifery volunteering in Vietnam

I’m fundraising for my midwifery placement trip to Vietnam this summer with Work the World. Me and my friend Louisa will be travelling to this amazing part of the world to experience midwifery practice before qualifying this September. This three week placement will expose me to cultural differences, health inequalities and practices I haven’t considered while training in the NHS. I’ll be spending time in the city of Hue in the maternity hospital to experience labour and birth care in a developing country.

We also have the opportunity to travel to the rural areas of Vietnam to explore traditional birth practices and see more of the beautiful country.

This experience will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop my understanding of what it means to be a midwife before completing my midwifery degree and starting employment in the NHS this Autumn.
