Yawanawá-Nova Esperança Clean Water Project

Donation protected
Since reclaiming the rights to their homelands in 1984, The Yawanawá have made incredible strides in regaining their almost lost culture, as well as making very progressive cultural movements which include indoctrination of their first two female Pajés (Spiritual Leaders) in 2012.

Their story is an incredible journey of personal development while making a name for themselves on the world stage. They have been actively campaigning around the globe, spreading environmental awareness and a peaceful nurturing spirituality that seeks the unity of all people as unique individuals and works toward balance and respect with the natural world. Learn more about their culture here

With several projects already underway, the Yawanawá residents of Aldeia Nova Esperança (New Hope Village)  are seeking assistance in establishing their home lands on the traditional land of their ancestors, as they were displaced during the occupation of the missionaries. They are currently in need of several new fresh water sources, and are currently looking to establish 4 new wells, each estimated at 15000 Reais ($4000).

The Deep Forest Foundation wishes to express its full support of the Yawanawá Aldeia Nova Esperança (New Hope Village) with this first crowdfunding campaign. To learn more about other projects the DFF is a part of,  please see our website: The Deep Forest Foundation

100% of donations (after collection and transfer fees from GoFundME) will be delivered to the Yawanawá Aldeia Nova Esperança (New Hope Village) via international transfer to their public ledger.

It is our honor to reach out to the international community to ask for this assistance. Recent elections in Brazil have made the plight of the indigenous much more difficult, as the current administration publicly attacks the indigenous over greed for the resources on their lands and has already started cutting government agencies and support for Brazil's indigenous populations. (See this recent NY Times article)  We can't do much about the Brazilian government, but by supporting the projects of the native peoples of Brazil, we can send a clear signal that the international community is in full support of the Indigenous Communities who watch over and preserve the precious Amazonian land and people.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
