Yale Gospel Choir's Costa Rica Spring Tour 2024

Founded in 1973 - and proudly celebrating our 50th Anniversary - the Yale Undergraduate Gospel Choir (YGC) maintains an enthusiastic, dedicated membership of approximately 30 singers and musicians, operating with the mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. We fulfill this mission through performances at Yale, the New Haven area, and elsewhere during our annual Spring Tour. In years past, we've traveled to Japan, India, Jamaica, New Orleans, Canada, and many more!

Our Spring Tour, a vital part of YGC’s purpose, allows us to take our song beyond New Haven. During our Spring Break, 24 choir members will be traveling to San Jose, Costa Rica from March 10th to March 16th, 2024. Our intent for this tour is to show love not only in the words that we say or sing, but also with the ways that we serve. Thus, we will be focusing on engaging with Costa Rican communities through performing and volunteering at churches, schools, homeless shelters, nursing homes, and many other locations. We are eager to learn much from Costa Rica’s rich history and culture, and form meaningful connections with people & organizations that we can continue to support in the future.

YGC is very grateful to all the support that organizations and individuals have shown to us in the past! We are hoping to make this tour our most significant yet to honor the legacy of our 50 year history. Therefore, over the next few months we will be raising approximately $35,000 to cover airfare, transportation, lodging, and food. Our hope is that, with the help our families, friends, church communities, and loved ones, each of our 24 traveling members can raise $500 towards tour, for a total contribution of $12,000!
