Last year we provided Thanksgiving Feasts for 5 families here in Fort Lauderdale thanks to Yachties from around the world.
Florida has provided us with a base to find work and flourish, repair, and further our education. It is the place we reconnect and relax. This year, we show our home-away-from-home some love.
We are hoping to spread even more joy this Thanksgiving by coming together with our fellow yachties and industry leaders to put turkey dinners on the tables for those who would otherwise go without. How much better will your own meal taste, knowing that another family has come together over a meal because of your generosity?
We have connected with a local non-profit "Taylors Closet" which trains and encourages student leaders to maximize their potential and lead their peers. We are hoping to distribute 7 Blue Apron turkey boxes this Thanksgiving to 7 young teenage leaders here in South Florida. These young women are being raised by single mothers and are actively involved in helping coach and empower their peers in the Fort Lauderdale area. They have little for themselves but give so much to the groups that they lead. We want to show them some well-deserved love and send them a meal to put on the tables for their families this Thanksgiving.
The boxes are $120 each (includes taxes and shipping). This means are looking to raise $840 to cover the purchase. Any extra funds raised will be donated to Poverello in Wilton Manors who deliver food directly to unsheltered folks right here in Broward County.
