Bubbles is a sweet, lazy dog who loves rolling around in the dirt, treats, and her kitty siblings. She is an emotional support animal for my autistic daughter, and Bubbles herself is like another daughter to me. She is very spoiled and loved.

On Tuesday night, we noticed her eye was cloudy and bloodshot. We got her into see the vet the very next day. The vet then referred us to a specialist, an ophthalmologist 4 hours away in Oregon. They got us in on Friday for an emergency visit.

The specialist said that there is no vision in Bubbles' right eye. It is swollen and misshapen, not like an eye should be, and the blindness came on quickly. We're not certain what caused this. It could have been trauma to the eye, perhaps she got excited and ran into something without noticing, something she's been known to do before. But the ophthalmologist also said she couldn't rule out a tumor. The best course of action, if antibiotics and steroid eyedrops don't help, would be to remove the eye, and then send it in to a pathologist for examination.

Her surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, only a week after that very first vet visit. This has all come on very suddenly, and the vet bills and travel expenses are overwhelming, especially with a surgery looming overhead. Even taking on a second job, this will be difficult to navigate financially, but of course we would do anything for our Bubbles. Any little bit to help Bubbles out would be greatly appreciated.
