Help Us Bring Morgan Home for Healing
Dear friends, family, and community,
On February 17th, Bodhi and Finn’s biological father, Morgan, suffered a seizure that led to the discovery of two cancerous masses—one in his lungs and one in his brain. In an urgent and life-altering turn of events, he underwent emergency brain surgery on February 22nd, where doctors successfully removed the tumor. He is currently undergoing cancer treatment for the tumor in his lung (for which they are considering surgery, radiation, and chemo) as well as radiation to his brain. Morgan has received a life expectancy of 2-3 years given surgery and a positive response to treatment. This has understandably been world-shattering information for the boys and our co-parenting unit.
Despite having good insurance, long-term disability, and working over 50 hours a week previously, Morgan now finds himself on disability and facing the eventuality of losing his studio in Santa Rosa.
As a family, we are committed to ensuring Morgan receives the best possible care, support, and quality of life. Given Morgan's plan for treatment and his inability to work to support himself, we know that we will need to bring him into our home for more direct care and comfort. We currently live in SW Santa Rosa in a 2-bedroom house where we've converted the garage into a bedroom for Bodhi. We are starting this GoFundMe to create more space in our home to support Morgan and his care.
Our Plan: Creating Space for Morgan
To provide Morgan with the care he needs, we are making necessary adjustments to our home:
- Building an out-unit in the backyard to create an independent space for Bodhi, moving Bodhi out of his bedroom in the garage, which allows us to:
- Move Morgan into the bedroom in our garage, giving him a safe, accessible, and comfortable space for healing and ongoing care that is attached to our home.
This project is a critical step in making sure Morgan can be surrounded by love, stability, and the support he needs as he navigates this journey, and ultimately, end-of-life care.
How You Can Help
We are reaching out to our community to ask for help in funding this transition. Your donations will go directly toward:
- Materials and labor to build Bodhi’s out-unit
- Home modifications to accommodate Morgan’s medical and daily needs
- Supporting our sons during this challenging time of their lives
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference in making this a reality. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign and sending love and encouragement means the world to us.
Together, we hope to create a space where Morgan can live and be cared for in dignity and comfort.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity, support, and kindness.
With gratitude,
Crystal, Gage, & the boys
