My son's car was totaled when a tree fell on it in our driveway during Hurricane Ian. Dustin is disabled (Autistic) and has only his SSI check of a little over $800 a month to live on. What makes things really difficult is that people on SSI are not allowed to have more than $2000 in assets. Although they don't count one car as part of those assets, he's not able to save money to buy a car, because he can't ever have more than $2000. Because of this, Dustin can't do his own Go Fund Me . I will need to raise the money for him use it (matched by additional money from his Dad and I) to buy a car and then gift it to him.
If you know my son, you are aware of his kind heart and generous nature. He's always the first to help people in need, even to the point of giving more than he should sometimes! If you feel it in your heart to help with a donation towards this cause, know that you will have our deepest appreciation and you will have shown him a kindness that I know he will never forget.
