Friends and Community,

I am reaching out today to ask for your support for a family I love dearly. They are currently navigating a sudden and heartbreaking crisis, and I am stepping in to help them find their footing during a period of forced transition.

The Situation: Over the holidays, my cousin attended a routine ICE check-in for his pending asylum case. Despite having complied with every step of the legal process and holding a valid work authorization, he was unexpectedly detained and transferred to a facility.

His wife and their two-year-old daughter were released, but the transition has been devastating. My cousin was the sole financial provider for the household, and his absence has left a void.

The Immediate Need: A Bridge to Employment: My cousin’s wife is resilient and determined. She is already actively seeking employment so that she can provide for her daughter independently. However, finding a job and receiving a first paycheck takes time—time that their landlord and utility companies won't necessarily grant them. Because this detention happened without warning, the family has been stripped of their only income overnight. We are seeking to raise funds specifically to cover his wife’s rent and basic living expenses for this interim period while she secures work.

Our Goal: Stability During the Search - We are keeping the family’s identities anonymous to protect them during their ongoing immigration proceedings. Your contributions will serve as a vital "bridge" to get them through this month, covering:
  • Next month’s rent: Ensuring a two-year-old child remains in a stable, familiar home.
  • Daily Essentials: Groceries, diapers, and utilities while Mom interviews and prepares to start a new role.

How You Can Help: This fundraiser is about more than just money; it’s about giving a hardworking mother the breathing room she needs to rebuild her life under incredibly stressful circumstances. Once she is employed, she will be able to carry these responsibilities forward.

Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward these survival costs. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this link with your own community.

Thank you for standing with this mother and child. Your compassion is the safety net that will allow them to move from crisis back to stability.
