My name is Cormac, I'm currently working in The Lighthouse in Dublin helping the homeless. I'm studying addiction studies and community development in An Cosán. Helping people in need is something I feel very strongly about. Over the past few years, I've been on a life-changing journey and I now know firsthand the value of helping others through the help that was given to me.
I've been given the opportunity to go on a Mission to South Africa. It's a ten-day trip starting on April 8. We will be going to Parll to volunteer for a center helping children living in extreme poverty, many are orphans, ill, homeless. This center provides them with food, clothing, and runs activities like sports and art. This center is in need of repair so on our trip we will be helping out with any repair work, as well as helping in any way we're needed in the center. The money raised is going towards flights and accommodation and also to help get materials for the project.
This mission is being organized by Tiglin, a Christian-based organisation that runs a homeless drop-in service, a residential treatment center, and an aftercare house. They do great work and have helped me on my journey.
Valcare, a non-profit charity, is the organisation that runs the center over in South Africa.
