This past December (2019), I visited Sierra Leone, West Africa. Sierra Leone is a beautiful country, filled with beautiful souls. Despite the countries beauty and abundance of natural resources, Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world. Visiting allowed me to witness what poverty really looks like. It broke my heart to see families lack the daily needs for survival, children having to play with cans versus toys, and people not having the means to make hygiene and sanitation a priority.
While I was in Sierra Leone, I visited a school that ranged from kindergarten to eight grade. The school had just under 400 students and the numbers are still growing. I was very impressed with the school in comparison to other schools that I have visited out there. The owner of the school is blessing these children by providing a location for them to learn and giving them their sense of childhood back. During my visit, my family and I blessed the students and faculty with monetary donations. Instead of monetary donations, I would like to raise $10,000 to purchase school supplies, hygiene, clothing, food, cleaning supplies, and toys.
I am planning to return to Sierra Leone in December 2021. I want to purchase all goods and ship it to Sierra Leone by August 2021. By December when I arrive I will personally distribute the good on behalf of all the donors. In the next 18 months, I hope to raise the full $10,000. The people in Sierra Leone really need the support. During my visit, the children showed so much love and appreciation. It will mean everything to me to be the link between these precious children and everyone donating/reposting with open hearts.
Visiting Sierra Leone was a very humbling experience. I can't help but to wonder what I would be like if I was born, raised and currently living there. Only thing I can imagine I'd wish for, is someone to have compassion and help. Thank you sincerely in advance to any and everyone who donates/repost. God Bless.
