Our warm and welcoming rented dining hall will be the heart of The Blossoms’ mission. Hundreds of people who are in need will gather that one day towards the end of the year to share a special and important meal.
This generous special event provides a hearty, and nutritious meal to the homeless, the socially disadvantaged, and the isolated ones. As our first time launching this free event, we are looking forward to doing more than just feeding people. We will also provide opportunities for people to learn, reconnect, and re-develop a sense of community and belonging.
It will take a professional kitchen staff of many hands, in addition to a team of more than 30 volunteers to prepare and serve a great meal for our event called “Feeding 500”. Our valued volunteer pool will consist of the following: students, teachers , community groups, and individuals from the corporate sector in Haiti & United states. With limited funds, we are hoping to obtain sufficient food donations from food rescue agencies, catering companies, local bakeries, cafes, restaurants, farmers,co-workers,friends, and family members.
Over the past months, us “The Blossoms’” team have been working extremely hard to embrace our sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers to makes them aware that, though we might not have enough to give them financially but we want them to always remember this day that we are putting together for them as a family.
The goal is to make this an annual event where we will travel to Port-au-Prince, Haiti; not to be treated like “diasporas”, but rather to serve our nation and treat them like the Queens and Kings that they are. We will bring doctors and nurses, to educate our fellow people on health & nutrition; most importantly on how they could prevent themselves from certain diseases with or without much fund. We will also have a human resources expert who will teach them on ways to attain jobs using their skills, for we believe that everyone has a talent/skill of some sort regardless of their education background.
Once again, it will not just be a meal that we will provide, it will be an experience, and an opportunity for our people. Additionally, goody bags will be distributed at the end to thank them for participating and collaborating.
