Hi, my name is Maisie. I finish my A levels this summer (hooray) and I am volunteering to help teach and care for underprivileged children in Cambodia and help local communities in need. I strongly believe education and a good environment are essential to give everyone the best start in the world.
Volunteering will include working with children teaching English, sports and arts and crafts lessons and making learning fun! I will also help with renovation work by digging and building vegetable gardens to teach about nutrition, help renovate the classrooms by adding a coat of paint and creating educational materials, and building toilets and hand washing facilities to improve hygiene.
It will be amazing to visit Cambodia and experience Khmer culture especially by working with the local people, whilst making a real impact to improve the lives of children from disadvantaged communities.
The trip is organised by Projects Abroad UK who recruit volunteers from all over the world for sustainable projects that foster development in local communities abroad. (For more information about the project please see https://www.projects-abroad.co.uk/projects/volunteer-childcare-cambodia/)
My goal is to raise £3,000 to pay towards travel and project costs (including food, accommodation, project equipment and materials) to fund this great opportunity to volunteer in Cambodia.
Thank you very much for any donations!!
Maisie
