Stand with FPC Buford: Recovery and Rebuilding
Donation protected
On Thanksgiving Evening, First Pentecostal Church of Buford, 15 E Moreno Street, was engulfed by a devastating fire. Buford Fire Department contained the fire after 24 hours but it obliterated the building, equipment and many sentimental items.
Yet, their faith is unshaken, and the Church is unbroken.
The building was constructed in the late 1930s, and the steeple built during the Great Depression. It has stood firm against the test of time. It's acted as a cornerstone of the community’s most exuberant triumphs, profound sorrows and redemptive moments.
Since 1993, Bishop & Sister Timothy Copeland gently restored countless lives, walked through the valley with them; then together, in the church building, they rejoiced as God answered prayers. Bishop Copeland spent most of his time at the church—praying, studying and ministering to God’s people. Even after his tragic 2023 passing, his office was kept intact to memorialize his remarkable ministry. Sadly, the fire destroyed much of his personal effects, preaching notes and Bible.
Under Pastor & Sister Jordan Copeland’s ministry, FPC Buford has thrived, expanded and continued the vision God gave to Bishop Copeland. Many could testify of their pure and gentle ministry founded in deep places of prayer. The church building also held Pastor Copeland’s most precious commemorative pieces which were also destroyed.
Fortunately, the church building is insured. However, the church anticipates very significant out-of-pocket expenses not covered by the insurer, per industry standard. It also anticipates that insurance typically takes a substantial period of time to pay out, and the church will have to absorb those expenses upfront.
In addition to coveted prayers, people have asked how they can help during the church’s time of need. Together, as the body of Christ, we can show our support monetarily and help rebuild what has been lost. We stand with Pastor and Sis. Jordan Copeland, the Copeland Family, and FPC Buford.
