Hello! My name is Casey and I am coming to you with a genuine need. I'm currently going through a divorce from an 18 year marriage that involved domestic violence. My children were present for the violence; with the latest being June 2020. My ex husband was diagnosed with PTSD and depression and was put on medication January 2020. Fast forward to end of March beginning of quarantine. His doctor called from the VA and asked if his meds were working for him and he said he couldn't tell a difference. The doctor decided to double the amount of medication he was taking daily and things got incredibly worse in our home. Without going into great detail I was subjected to some violence and had to sneak out of my home and immediately called his doctor. His doctor said Casey I'm so sorry. He's Bipolar and I misdiagnosed him. The med I put him on threw him into a massive manic state because it's the wrong med for him. I was flabbergasted. The doctor then spent the next month trying him on different meds to level him out. I was told the mania would get better over the next few weeks but it only got worse. The next time I was subjected to violence I called the police. The police immediately judged me and my girlfriend because we were in a polyamorous relationship that included my ex. They only wanted to go inside and speak with him and have him show them what happened, the abuser. They ultimately left and broke the law. On a domestic violence call it is the law in Colorado to do a police report and at least one party is to be arrested. None of that happened. So when I went to get the police report so I could use that when I filed for divorce I was shocked to know there was no report for me. I have taken it to the DA, multiple attorneys, and Internal Affairs at the El Paso County Sherrifs Department and no one will help me.

The reason why I'm asking for your help today is because my ex husband went off all of his mental health meds almost a year ago. My daughter triggers his anger just like I did so I'm very concerned for her safety while she's there since he is no longer medicated and is consuming substances that increase his mania. After speaking with the court and also with my attorney I was told the only way to hold him accountable is to have a CFI (child family investigator) go in and investigate him and have his medical records pulled. Then we can put stipulations in place with parenting time and having to be on meds to get that.

I'm humbly asking for your help so that I can retain my lawyer and get this started ASAP. I'm just a mom trying to protect her children and if this is the way I can do it then so be it. You all have been an incredible support system for me through this and I love you all more than you know. Thank you
