COVID-19 Relief Fund for the Philippines

We are a small group of students at UC Berkeley who are dedicated to providing financial relief to folks in the Philippines. Inspired by Piso Para sa Laptop, the COVID-19 Relief Aid is a relief aid that is meant to provide financial assistance for individuals and families in need in the Philippines. Our goal is to donate $20 to each applicant.
 
We strongly believe that everyone deserves to live without worrying constantly, regardless of achievement or socioeconomic status. We hope to provide to as many people as possible, if resources permit. We will be prioritizing those who require extra support or emergency support, such as PWD (Persons with Disabilities), families facing housing/food insecurity, or students who are expected to study online.

We are reaching out to Filipinos across the globe to donate to this fund with whatever extra money they have (even $1 can significantly help someone's life!). Even though we are all struggling right now due to the nature of our jobs and due to the pandemic, our lives are significantly more comfortable than many of those living in the Philippines.

We plan to distribute funds DAILY to as many people as we can via GCash (through Moneygram or Remitly) or Paypal. We will be posting updates WEEKLY on this page to share with y'all how much we've distributed. Kami ay mga estudyante kami sa UC Berkeley at gusto naming gumawa ng COVID-19 Relief Fund para sa mga nangangailangan sa Pilipinas. Nagsimula 'to nung nakita namin yung Piso sa Laptop na hashtag. Na-realize namin na madaming nangangailangan sa Pilipinas lalo na sa panahon ng pandemic - madaming nawalan ng trabaho, lumiit yung kita, o kaya naparami ang gastusin dahil sa medical bills, online school, etc. Goal namin magdonate ng $20 sa bawat aplikante (isa bawat pamilya).

Naniniwala kami na karapatan ng lahat na mamuhay nang hindi nagaalala o naghihirap, kung ano man achievement nila sa buhay. Gusto namin makapagbigay sa madaming tao pero uunahin namin ang mga PWD, 'yung mga nangangailangan pangrenta o pangkain, at mga estudyante na nangangailangan pang-matrikula.

Nananawagan kami sa mga OFW kasi kahit na tayo din ay naghihirap dahil sa pandemic, mas maayos pa din pamumuhay natin kesa sa mga naghihirap sa Pilipinas. Kahit gano pa man kaliit yung extra nating pera, malaking tulong pa din sa Pilipinas yun!
