X wheels has been an institution in the WNY area for over a decade. It's the only indoor skate spot in this region available to all ages and types of indoor recreation including skateboarding, biking and scootering. Anyone that enjoys these activities knows how difficult it is when you have to give them up for the entire winter season. Not only are we trying to re open the doors but we are trying to improve upon it's previous shortcomings also. We want to create a clean, friendly, usable environment where anyone can feel comfortable using the space. The building was already in trouble before it closed its doors a year and a half ago but since then the damage associated with it sitting unused has increased. A team of local volunteers has been working free of pay to try and restore the space but there are a lot of materials and man hours involved. We need to make sure we are following the landlords requirements so that the space can not only be functional, but safe and inviting as well. If you're a skater or biker in the area and you don't want to have to go another 6-8 months without doing the activity you enjoy then consider donating to the project. Even if you have no interest in skating the park represents an important landmark in WNY and one that we are trying our hardest to rehab and rebuild to make it accessible to everyone in the area. Any money donated will go directly to materials needed to restore the park.
