Hi my name is Finn I am 15 years old and I am fundraising for a trip in 2027 to Cambodia.

What it’s about: the trip is to travel to Cambodia with camp international. In Cambodia we will visit different camp international locations around the country, in these locations we will focus on doing things such as learning new life skills such as: Plastery, bricklaying, joinery and many more. We will build wells, schools and houses for the locals, create new sources of learning and opertunity for the local children and they will educate us on their own culture. We are going to be helping people and making it so they get a fair opertunity at education with our help!

Why Cambodia the destination : Cambodia is a developing county which borders Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. Cambodia was ruled in 1995 by a communist group who were known as The Khmer Rouge who lead Cambodia from 1975-1975 during this period there was one of the worst mass killings in that time. Pol Pot lead the communist group which wanted to turn Cambodia into a strict agricultural communist country with no cities, money, religion, or educated population. Some of the things they did was

• Killed educated people who they saw as “enemies” Doctors, teachers, monks or even people who wore glasses because they thought they must be educated.

• closed schools, businesses and hospitals.

•banned religion and private property.

it was estimated that 1.5-2.1 million people died during this which was around 25% of the country at this time.

cambodia was left developing having to start over again after this because no educated people were left to help rebuild.
