About the name XIPE Project
The name of this project pays respect to Xipe Totec (/ˈʃiːpə ˈtoʊtɛk/; Classical Nahuatl: Xīpe Totēc [ˈʃiːpe ˈtoteːk(ʷ)]) or Xipetotec) the Aztec god of rebirth and liberation. We are always becoming another version of ourselves, even if it is through immense pain and healing. The image of Xipe Toltec reminds us to keep this project grounded in the nourishing power of sacrifice and sacredness of rebirth in all of the ways we experience it.
