Save Israac Community Centre, We Urgently Need a New Roof
“Israac” means unity, and for nearly 40 years, our community centre in Sheffield has lived up to that name. It has been a lifeline, a safe haven, and a place where people from all backgrounds come together to find support, companionship, and hope.
Founded in 1984 by Ali and Fatima, Israac has grown into a vital hub offering:
Life changing advice on health, debt, housing, and social support
· Specialist help for families with autistic children
· Wellbeing, fitness, and weight-management programmes
· Social and cultural events that bring the whole community together
· A trusted bridge between residents and public services, especially for those facing language or social barriers
But today, Israac is under threat.
Severe roof damage is putting our entire building, and all the services within it, at risk. If we cannot repair the roof soon, we may be forced to close our doors. That would mean:
- Families losing a safe place for support
- Isolated residents losing a community
- Vulnerable people losing essential guidance
- A 40-year legacy of unity and service coming to an end
We cannot let that happen.
We urgently need to raise £190,000 to repair and protect the roof so that Israac can continue serving generations to come.
Your donation will:
· Keep a vital community centre open and safe
· Protect services that hundreds of people rely on
· Support children, families, and vulnerable residents
· Preserve a space that fosters unity, dignity, and opportunity for all
Even the smallest contribution helps bring us closer to saving this precious community home.
Please help us protect Israac, a place where everyone belongs and no one is left behind.
Together, we can keep our roof strong, our doors open, and our community thriving.
