Support for the Riley Family

Donation protected
On February 9th, John suffered a stroke and was rushed to Mass General Hospital. Later, we learned that his carotid artery was damaged, likely from vomiting when he contracted norovirus. A clot broke off from his neck and cut off the blood supply to particular areas of his brain. Unfortunately, surgery to remove the clot was unsuccessful and he was left with areas of brain damage that are responsible for motor skills and sensations on his left side.

After a stay in the ICU, John was moved to Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. He is now at home and his family drives him to Spaulding for daily therapy sessions to aid in his recovery. John will likely need physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy for at least the next year.

At this time, John is focused on his recovery at home. We are asking for your help in raising funds for the Riley family as they navigate many unforeseen medical expenses in the coming months.

John served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked for the Boston Regional Intelligence Center, a part of the Boston Police Department. His current company, Evolv Technologies, helps detect weapons and prevent mass tragedies.

John has committed his life to helping and protecting others. We now hope to do the same for him, his wife, Amanda, and their two-year-old daughter, Reese.

Please keep the Riley family in your thoughts and prayers as John continues on his healing journey.
