My name is Tashelle, a true-born Jamaican now living in the UK. Though I’m far from home, my heart will always belong to Jamaica the land of wood and water, the island that raised me, and where my family and loved ones still live.
When Hurricane Melissa struck, it tore through our beautiful country with unimaginable force. Entire communities were destroyed. Families were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Roads, schools, and homes were washed away. Even the animals that once brought joy to our yards and villages now wander lost and hungry.
The Jamaica we all know full of laughter, music, colour, and love has been brought to its knees. But our spirit remains strong.
It breaks my heart to see the suffering back home and to know that I can’t be there in person to help rebuild. But what I can do what we can do together is bring hope back.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping families and communities rebuild their lives by providing:
Materials to rebuild homes and roofs that were destroyed
Food, clean water, and clothing for families in urgent need
Temporary shelter and supplies for those displaced
Care and food for animals who are part of our families too
Jamaicans are strong, proud, and full of love but right now, we need the world’s compassion. Together, we can help Jamaica rise again, stronger and more united than ever before.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us, for caring, and for helping to rebuild our island home.
One love, always.
Tashelle
