This is Xavier (9). On February 8, 2025, around 1:00 pm, Xavier had a headache and a fever of 104. He was taken to Urgent Care where they diagnosed him with FLU A. After he returned home, within the hour, he lost all mobility and communication with everyone. He was rushed to Children’s Hospital where they determined he had a stroke. After further testing, they told us he had a disease called MoyaMoya, and the high fever triggered it. That’s how, at the time, an 8-year-old had a stroke. After spending 5 days in the hospital, he was released on seizure medication and had to be watched at all times.
On May 22, Xavier had a bypass on the left side of his brain. Xavier is doing amazing, but on July 3, 2025, he will undergo another bypass on the right side. The doctors are hoping he does as well with the 2nd as the 1st.
Xavier’s dad and stepmom took him and all his siblings to Florida to enjoy a little relaxation in between surgeries.
Before they left, their van broke down, and what was only supposed to be a $25 part ended up being the motor blew.
Both parents have missed work from surgeries and doctor’s appointments.
Can you imagine all this happening and still trying to work, balance 6 other kids, and then your vehicle dies on you? Just trying to help get their van fixed so they will be able to get back and forth to the hospital and doctor appointments.
If you feel in your heart to help them, please consider it, and if you’re not able to, please keep him and the family in your thoughts and prayers as they go to step 2 in his recovery.
