PLEASE HELP KELLY!

My daughter, Kelly, has had a series of very unfortunate, stressful events over the past two months. Please take time to read and understand her cause....

Kelly is in her 10th year of education, on the road to becoming a Veterinary Neurologist. This was made up of 8 years of post-graduate education, a year as an intern in Boston, and now, beginning a year as an Neurology Intern in Phoenix, AZ. She has funded all of this herself, taking out student loan after student loan, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The move from Boston to Phoenix is where the trouble started.

Kelly hired a moving company, Precision Relocation, out of New Jersey. The gave her an estimate of $2,300 for her move. When they arrived at her apartment on July 7, 2018, they said her belongings were going to take up 750 cubic feet, not the 500 cf they'd estimated, raising the cost of her move to $3,600.  This was after they had already loaded her things on their truck!! Kelly, afraid they'd just dump her things right there in the parking lot, agreed to pay them 75% of the $3,600, and wrote them a cashiers check for $2,700, not knowing what else to do.

They told her to check in the following Monday, 7/9, to see when her things would be delivered, saying delivery would be 7-21 days from the date she could receive her things in Phoenix. She told them she'd be in Phoenix on 7/13/18. On Monday, 7/9/18, she called the telephone number for "Precision Relocation", and the rude man on the other end said he couldn't give her a delivery date, and that they hadn't loaded the truck yet. When she called a day or two later, he said her things were on the truck, but that they were waiting for more things to fill the truck, before heading to Phoenix. She checked her bank account, and they had already cashed her $2,700 check.

She traveled cross-country in her rusty 2006 Sebring convertible, hoping , fingers crossed, it would make the 2,600 mile trip to Phoenix. She arrived at her empty apartment in Phoenix on July 13th, and bought an air mattress to sleep on until her furniture and belongings arrived.

At this point her possessions consisted of that air mattress, two duffel bags with the clothes and sundries needed for the four day road trip from Boston to Phoenix, her laptop, her cell phone, and her two cats, Calypso and Odin.

She was never able to reach Precision Relocation again. Every attempt to call was met with no response, and then with full voicemails. She tried to email and text, again with no response. Our concerns continued to grow when we realized the consumer reviews the company had posted online were false, and after digging further, the real reviews were shocking. Repeated stories of unknowing consumers being quoted one price, only to have the price jacked up 50% and more, once their belongings were on the truck!! Many previous customers reported missing and badly damaged items, as well as terrible interactions with employees of the moving company.

It was at this point that Kelly came across this newscast from a Consumer Advocate at WMAR in Baltimore.

Kelly is an unfortunate victim of a nationwide moving scam.

Not only have they already cashed her $2,700 check, but she will most likely never see her possessions again.

To add insult to injury, in the short time she's been in AZ, working 16 hr. days as a Neurology Intern, going home to her empty apartment day after day.....the convertible top on her car stopped working, her phone died, and her computer crashed and quit working.

These things have all happened in the past week!!!!

It is my hope to raise $7,000 for Kelly. While she will probably never see her personal possessions again, I would like to help her to recoup her losses, not only monetarily, but maybe buy herself some furniture, so she can make a "home" for herself in Phoenix, instead of an empty space with only an air mattress.

If you've read this far, I thank you for taking the time to hear Kelly's story. I'm unable to help her myself, and I strongly feel this is a worthy cause.

Thank you again,

Kelly's Mom
