In Memory of Maria

This fundraiser was created in memory of:

Maria Bakakos Caccavale May 7, 1989 - July 23, 2023

Maria was my best friend, a sister to me. We met in 2010 during Dental Hygiene School orientation and we were inseparable ever since. We had an unconditional understanding of one another and I will forever thank God for placing her in my life.

Maria was an amazing wife to her husband Michael, and the most selfless mother to her two sons, 6 year old Michael and 4 year old Anthony. I admired her relationship with her husband and the way she made being a mom look so easy.

Mike and Maria were high school sweethearts and I was always amazed at how their love grew stronger and stronger as each year passed. Victories kept them close and struggles brought them closer. They were a team. Up to the moment she passed, Maria never had a single negative word to say about Mike. They had an unconditional love, one that will last forever.

Maria lived for her boys. She took them everywhere with her. Anything they wanted, she made sure they had it. I often found myself asking her "How do you do it all?" because I was in awe of how she made everything look so easy, without a complaint. She always responded, "My boys are my life." Her biggest fear was leaving them.

In 2020, Maria was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuroectodermal Sarcoma, a rare cancer with less than 100 reported cases in the world. The news shattered our hearts and shook her family's lives. She promised she would not go down without a fight.

She fought every single day, every single breath, every living moment for three years until God spread her wings and brought her home.
