On May 20th 2025, tragedy struck our family when a fire tore through the apartment where my niece, nephew, their mother, and my mother live. The fire left their home completely uninhabitable, destroying everything in its path. More than just possessions were lost—safety, stability, and peace of mind were taken in an instant.
The most heartbreaking part is that my niece and nephew’s mother, who lives with multiple sclerosis (MS) and relies on a wheelchair, was caught in the fire. Due to her condition, she was unable to evacuate the bed in time. My young nephew and their grandmother, who lives in the unit directly above, did everything they could—but they weren’t able to get her out fast enough. She is currently recovering at the university of Chicago hospital burn center.
We are beyond grateful she survived, but this has left her and our family shaken and without a home. Everything was lost—clothing, furniture, medications, essentials—and the emotional toll is unimaginable.
We are asking for support to help our family get back on their feet. Funds raised will go toward:
• Emergency housing and relocation
• Medical care and accessibility needs
• Clothing and essential supplies
• Rebuilding what was lost
Anything you can give—whether a donation or simply sharing this page—means the world. Please help us surround them with love, support, and the resources they need to begin healing.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
