On September 15, Ruth-Ann discovered a leak in the basement floor drain that flowed under the wall and into a carpeted area. The sewer pipes were filled with scale, and the sewer water backed up into a section of the basement. The pipes needed to be rodded from the basement to the street to remove the scale. This service was all considered normal wear and tear, so it was not covered by Ruth-Ann's insurance. Along with fixing the pipes, reconstruction of the basement needs to be done to replace the wet carpeting and drywall.
