Baby Emma Born at 27 Weeks

Donation protected

Katie developed a placental abruption at 25 weeks which caused her water to break. She was transported by ambulance up to Tacoma general where she was put on strict bedrest until baby’s birth. Katie then spent 15 days in the hospital. On 2/12, Katie went into labor and had an emergency csection.

Emma Eileen was born 1lb 15oz at 4:56am at 27 weeks 2 days Emma will stay in the nicu until her due date of May 11.

Katie and her husband Doug drive up to Tacoma general daily to see her, hold her and touch her. Emma is doing very well for her age despite being born under 2 pounds. The TG nicu team has been awesome with her.

At home, Katie and Doug have also been trying to balance their temporary new life between the hospital and time with their other daughter Kaylee. Right before Katie ended up in the hospital they had just moved into a new home that Doug has been renovating. Due to baby Emma being significantly born early those renovations have been put on hold, which is hard for their family because their home doesn’t exactly feel like “home” since the house is only barely livable.   Katie and Doug are trying to do their best to spend equal time with both girls and work around the house when we have small pockets of time.

What a big shocker this was to Katie and Doug, both are trying to do their very best togo back and fourth to see sweet little baby Emma and also be here for Kaylee on top ofhome life.

Katie has been such a trooper through all of this, I couldn’t even imagine having your world turned upside down like this.

Katie and Doug are going to be eventually getting medical bills for not only Katie but for baby Emma, not to mention all the driving their doing going back and fourth (45-1hour) everyday there and back, they are also spending money on food throughout the daydue to not being at home since their always on the go going up to see baby Emma and most days getting home late from the hospital. Not to mention not having a kitchen to use at home since the renovation process of their home had to be put on hold due to loosing what they thought was going to be 14more weeks of getting their house together and livable.

Please see it in your heart to donate to ease the burden of this unforeseen situation and if not please pray for Katie’s recovery and Baby Emma continual growth and time in the NICU.
