Mission Trip to Nepal

Hi! My name is Natalie.
I have set a goal to raise $3000 by May 2016 in order to take part in a mission trip to Nepal with other members of WestWind church (Waukee, IA).
(Please exuse the face I'm making here.)
During our time in Nepal, we will be working to accomplish 3 primary goals:
1. Provide basic medical care and hygiene education to young womenand orphans who have been rescued from sex trafficking and are of the lowest social caste in Nepal ("Dalit" or "Badi" people) in connection with the nonprofit group Out of Ashes and Lighthouse Foundation Nepal (LHFN).
2. Install water filtration systems for several facilities used by the nonprofits we partner with as well as teaching the people there how to operate and maintain the system.
Finally (here's the truly exciting part) we will go out into the community in not only Kathmandu, but also rural villiages to meet the people. We will play with the kids, cook with the women, and share knowledge and fellowship.
Why I need your help: I am a new teacher in a rural district in Iowa who is paying off a large college debt and a car. Life for me is not hard by any means, but I don't have surplus money for much of anything, much less world travel. However, my greatest passions in life are social justice and serving others, and Nepal already has a special place in my heart.
While attending Loras College (Dubuque, IA) I was fortunate enough to meet, work with, go to class with, and become friends with several wonderful people who call Nepal their home. Knowing these people enriched my life! Besides making new friends which is always awesome, knowing them sparked an interest in and love for Nepal within me.
When I first started attending WestWind church (WW) in Waukee, I was not entirely sure it was "my" church. That was until I learned about its special connection to this ministry in Nepal (LHFN ). It's so rare we get to realize God's plan for us at any time, but it was at that moment I understood why He had lead me to WW.

The money you donate will go towards covering the cost of travel expenses, immunizations, and equipment purchases. I will be taking other initiaives in the coming months to raise money outside of gofundme, but donations of any size are welcome and appreciated! Any surplus will be donated to other members of the mission team to reduce their financial need.
