Defending Reproductive Rights
Currently, reproductive freedoms are under attack in Florida. With the recent enactment of Texas Senate Bill 8, local and state politicians are riding a high and pushing as hard as they can to adopt a mirrored legislation.
Women's Voices of SW Florida has been working non-stop to defend reproductive freedoms in Manatee County since they were threatened in June. Manatee County is now the municipality on the forefront of bringing this ordnance into Florida, and we are expanding our efforts to stay ahead of it.
Recently the Board of County Commissioners voted 4:3 in favor of seeking aid from Attorney General Ashley Moody in passing this ordinance. On October 2, WVSWFL will be hosting the SWFL March for Reproductive Rights - in tandem with the nationwide Women's March. We recognize that women are not the only ones who will be affected by this restrictive and unconstitutional legislation, and intend to march in defense of all who's rights are on the line.
We are expecting allies from across the state, and want to ensure their health and safety during this historical event in Manatee County. Please help us make that possible.
