Help WVIRM Welcome Asylum Seeking Families to WV

We are trying to raise $100,000 to hire an Executive Director and bring more asylum seeking and refugee families to West Virginia. We are currently welcoming a small number of asylum seeking families to WV and we hope someday to resettle refugees as well.
We are West Virginia Interfaith Refugee Ministry ("WVIRM") is an organization of volunteers from many faith communities in Charleston WV, whose mission is striving to improve the lives of refugees. I am Greg Clarke, a local physician and parishioner at St. John's Episcopal Church, which has a long tradition of social outreach. I am a graduate of the WV University School of Medicine and have practiced medicine in WV for decades. Promoting health and saving lives is what I am all about. I am also a founding Board member of WVIRM.
The funds raised from this campaign will be held in a WVRIM dedicated checking account at the WV Episcopal Diocese, and spent for the salary and benefits of the Executive Director and the basic needs of the asylum seeking families we are welcoming to WV now, and the refugees we hope to welcome and resettle should the Presidential Determination return to normal levels in the future, allowing more refugees to someday come the United States. Right now we are limited in the number of asylum seeking families we can welcome to WV because we are all volunteer and lack an Executive Director staff person to lead our teams of volunteers as they help asylum seeking families enroll in English as a Second Language Classes, enroll their children in school, learn to ride our KRT buses, learn to grocery shop and adjust to their new home in our hills. Our funds are being turned in to the Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of the WV Episcopal Diocese, who will continue to disburse reimbursement funds from the dedicated checking account to reimburse authorized expenses of WVIRM. WVIRM's treasurer, a member of St. John's Episcopal Church is working closely with the COO and Treasurer of the WV Episcopal Diocese to review the budget and expenditures regularly.
