Hi, my name is Jimmy Phan, and I’m a first-year medical student with a dream to make a lasting difference in the lives of inner-city kids from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

My goal is to start a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring kids, providing them with essential items like clothes and backpacks, and offering them opportunities to succeed. This nonprofit will focus on helping children overcome challenges, build self-confidence, and realize their God-given potential.

Growing up, I experienced firsthand the challenges of a harsh upbringing. I know what it feels like to face obstacles that seem plagued with loneliness, and I understand how important it is to have someone believe in you and provide opportunities to succeed. My own struggles and triumphs shaped my heart for service, and they have inspired me to create a better future for kids in similar situations.

During college, I had the privilege of working with inner-city ministries that focused on mentoring and supporting children from underserved communities. These experiences showed me the transformative power of mentorship, faith, and compassion. Through these ministries, I saw how small acts of kindness—like providing a new backpack or being a consistent role model—could give kids a sense of hope and belonging.

Now, as a medical student, I’m ready to take what I’ve learned and turn it into something even bigger. My dream is to start a Christian nonprofit organization that provides mentorship, resources like clothes and backpacks, and opportunities for kids to thrive.

Why I’m Starting This Fund

Right now, I am laying the foundation for this dream. I am creating this fund as a way to begin gathering resources that will ONLY be used to launch this nonprofit in the future. I pledge to personally contribute to this fund, and every dollar raised will remain untouched until I’ve completed medical school and am ready to officially establish this organization.
