Dupont's Chemical Legacy Cleanup

Donation protected
I grew up next to Dupont Chambers Works.

I tested positive for lead as a child. I have a rare blood disease due to my exposure to chemicals this plant used to produce. Leaded gasoline was invented on this property. I have spent the last two years making Dupont accountable to cleanup the mess they left. My town sued for a billion (minimum) to clean up their mess. While the town is likely going to get the money they need to clean up, this does not address the fact that there is collateral damage done to the people surrounding the plant. All of my baby teeth were pulled before they fell out. My teeth right now are disintegrating and I am unable to eat. It is impacting my health.

I worked with Pulitzer Prize winner Gretchen Morgenson earlier this year on this piece which shows the damage. I also worked with NPR last year on this piece . The NJ Dept of Environmental Protection and the NJ Attorney General are involved now. I have worked my ass off to get things done for others, but I desperately need new teeth. I can't eat. I can't smile. My body is suffering from a poor diet because there are many things I can't eat. I didn't cause this. This isn't my fault, and it will be years before I see money from Dupont to address these issues. I need help NOW.

The damage done to me will last forever. I will forever have a rare blood disorder, autism, and disintegrating teeth. I was dealt a bad hand, and it was all thanks to Dupont. At least my story is helping others. I really need help for me, though. If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it and I promise to always pay it forward.

I set the goal at 5k to at least be able to get dentures. Ideally, I'd like to get an implant bridge, which is 20k. I doubt seriously I can achieve that here, but if it happens I would be eternally grateful. So, thanks for reading and if you would like to learn more, feel free to reach out to me.

Now that I have new teeth, I'm planning on planting sunflowers all around the perimeter of the Chambers Works property. Sunflowers have been shown to leech heavy metals and other nasty stuff out of the soil. I'm also doing soil analysis by taking soil core samples and partnering with a research institution to do a mass spectrometer go through of the soil samples I take so we can find out what's in the dirt. We know the water's screwed up already.  So, I ask for your help to help me clean up this site. The legal system has failed us, and it's going to take a massive effort to get things fixed. People are dead, dying, very sick, and need care. The more noise we make the better. Let's leave the world a better place than when we found it.
